MC Gregory Tenor (1950's) Master Model, Doc Tenney 105 stamp
Here is a vintage, MC Gregory “Master by Gregory Hollywood” tenor mouthpiece. This mouthpiece was opened by Paul “Doc” Tenney and is stamped 105 on the table along with “M” on the right of the table. This mouthpiece measures .100” on my guage.
The “Master” series was the follow up to the “A” series from earlier and features a medium chamber. Doc’s concept was performed here showing that this piece was opened from the table by a means known as the “biased, butt-cut” method whereby the craftsman re angles the table to remove material as opposed to from the tip, which shows itself to have retained its thickness. Doc preferred wider rails and he created a modest roll-over style baffle.
