Here is an original Selmer Soloist C* tenor mouthpiece. This piece measures .073" on my gauge.

This is an excellent example of Selmer's hugely innovative Soloist design. This is likely a later version of the so-called 'short shank' versions as it has a slightly narrower throat than the earlier ones that began as almost oval, then cathedral shaped and large and then this version. This piece retains the classic complex throat design that, combined with the flat side walls creates a wonderful stability and warmth.

While in overall excellent condition it needs to be pointed out that there are some very noticeable scratches in the floor toward the chamber. The picture shows this to be the only damage present and in no way affects the performance of this mouthpiece.

Vintage Selmers are ideal candidates for opening up to more contemporary sizes as they don't lose the special thing that attracts us to what I describe as 'the other saxophone voice'.
