Berg Larsen Alto (1970's) 85/2 M with original box & ligature
Here is an original condition 1970’s Berg Larsen 85/2 Alto piece. This mouthpiece comes in its original box along with its matching ligature and cap. This piece measures .088” on my gauge.
Berg Larsen was the first manufacturer to incorporate non round shapes into the mouthpiece geometry in order to increase projection and brightness. Bergs of this style have been used by great artists with diverse stylistes from Johnny Hodges to Jackie Mclean and Tim Berne all using rubber Bergs in their careers.
This piece is in very good condition and features the heavy perpendicular milling marks along the table and era appropriate finish work.
