Otto Link Tenor (1970's) Early Babbitt "Tone Edge" 6 with vintage box
Here is an original 1970’s Otto Link “Tone Edge” from the Early Babbitt period. This mouthpiece measures .098” which is closer to a 7.
This mouthpiece was made after the transitional period and were the first Tone Edge pieces made with a Babbitt core and shell. Tenor pieces from this period feature the slim body, the heavily defined beak shape, no mold number under the table, a small USA on the shank and a half inch baffle with no heavy drop like later incarnations of Tone Edge from the 1980’s onwards.
